Holy Communion in 2015-2016 went through a long process of discernment. We talked with one another one on one. We met in people’s homes. We gathered across the congregation. We talked about hopes, dreams, and visions of the future. We talked about what brought us to Holy Communion, what keeps us in the church, and what we hope our neighbors know about our congregation in the coming years. Out of that work, we discerned that we share three values:
Welcome, Diversity, and Community
and we wrote our Mission Statement:
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion is a welcoming and diverse community seeking to walk in the way of Jesus and to reveal Christ’s reconciling love in our city, nation, and world.
In May of 2016, the Vestry set goals for the coming year. We are celebrating because we have met and exceeded those goals. June 4, the feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, we will mark the end of the program year with a big party after the 10:30am service. We’ll celebrate with a sparkling toast, with cake, and with thanksgiving for the hard work of the many volunteers who made our growth possible.
We are also asking for your help. Even as we celebrate this year’s achievements, we are looking ahead to 2017/2018. What will be our goals.
