Christmas at Holy Communion
Christmas is one of the Church’s great feasts. We celebrate God’s decision to dwell with us, to come among us in the person of Jesus. This year, we will mark the whole season of Christmas with special services. Join us as we celebrate.
December 17 Lessons and Carols for Christmas
10:30am Lessons and Carols
Our service of Lessons and Carols in the style of King’s College. We begin the Christmas season a little early, with a service that helps us transition from Advent to the Feast of the Nativity. This special Music Festival Service is always popular. Bring friends, and plan to arrive early for a good seat. (read more about lessons and carols)
December 24 Christmas Eve:
10:30am Blue(s) Christmas
Because Christmas Eve this year is a Sunday morning, we have a morning service. We’re taking this chance to observe a Blue(s) Christmas. We’ll have a Blue Christmas service this morning as comfort for those away from family or those missing loved ones no longer with us. Music will be provided by blues artist Gene Dobbs Bradford and friends. (read more about Blue Christmas)
5:00 pm Carol Sing
5:30 pm Pageant and Holy Eucharist
All children are invited to participate in our pageant. (Click here for more information or to sign up). The older children who are regulars at Holy Communion will lead the telling of the story, and any child that arrives (and who wants to participate) will be issued angel or shepherd costumes to join the holy band around the manger during the service.
10:00pm Carol Sing
10:30pm Festival Holy Eucharist
On the Eve of the Nativity we gather in the dark night to hear the news that Christ has been born. The Choir and guest musicians will present Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D, K.19 and we will sing Silent Night by candlelight in the darkened church. Join us as we mark the coming of Emmanuel, God with us.
