June is LGBTQ+ Pride month, and Holy Communion is celebrating.
On June 11:
In solidarity with the National March for LGBTQ+ Equality and Pride , the clergy wore rainbow stoles. You can read/hear >the rector’s sermon from that Sunday by clicking here.
Holy Communion is in the minority in our open welcome of LGBTQ+ people. Most churches are still opposed to rights for people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity. Outsiders still assume churches, and other houses of worship, to be unsafe spaces. At Holy Communion we are committed to the work for equality, and for the hard conversations it will take to make change in our faith more broadly.
On June 25
In celebration of St. Louis Pride we’ll have a special service. The Venerable Mark Sluss, Archdeacon of the Diocese of Missouri will be our guest preacher, and Rebecca Boester, one of our staff singers, will sing Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” as an anthem.
