Holy Week 2021

This year, the covid restrictions will still limit our possibilities for Holy Week. We are offering both in-person and online opportunities to mark the most sacred days in the Christian Calendar.

Online Opportunities

On March 28 Palm Sunday at 10:30am we will have a streamed service of Morning Prayer and a reading of the Passion Gospel. Palms will be available for pickup at the church, starting on Sunday March 21.

On April 1 Maundy Thursday at 5pm, we’ll offer a simple online meditation and introduction to the agape meal. (Check back in the next two weeks for a downloadable guide to the agape meal). At 7pm we will broadcast the “stripping of the altar” from the church.

On April 2 Good Friday from 12pm-3pm there will be a three hour online service. (on our homepage and on Facebook). Every clergy member will offer a brief meditation on part of the passion, and there will be music and prayers.

On April 4 Easter Morning at 10:30am we will have a service broadcast live from the church, available on the website, Youtube, and on Facebook. We invite you to dress your Easter best, if you’d like. If you have an Easter Bonnet, wear it! At Virtual Coffee hour, we’ll show off our hats!

You will find digital bulletins for all of the services on this site. We are also preparing a downloadable and printable packet, for marking Holy Week at home.

In-Person Opportunities

For all in-person opportunities Holy Communion’s gathering protocols will be followed, including masking, social distancing, self-screening, and pre-registration will be required.

On March 28 Palm Sunday at 4:00 pm we will have a Palm Sunday parade outdoors, which will lead to an outdoor service of Eucharist and an outdoor reading of the Passion Gospel. We will meet in Mooney Park, just across Jackson Avenue from the church. If you’re coming to the parade, bring your parasols (along with your masks and lawn chairs).

On April 2 Good Friday, Parishioners and visitors will be welcome to enter the sanctuary for a time of prayer, to hear the organ, walk the labyrinth, and receive communion at the altar. Please note: on Good Friday, visits will be limited to 10 minutes.

On April 4, Easter morning at 6:00am, you are welcome to join us in the Jackson Elementary school parking lot for an Easter Sunrise Vigil service. We are especially encouraging you to dress warmly and bring lawn chairs and portable FM radio. This service will include baptisms and Eucharist. Please speak to the rector if you are interested in baptism for yourself or a child. This service will conclude by 7:45am.
