Dear People of Holy Communion,
Our Bishop’s prohibition on in-person worship now officially ends in mid-September. As a condition to take any step forward, the bishop has asked churches to name a “re-gathering committee.” Our committee will be made up heavily on members of the congregation who are scientists and medical doctors. The group will submit recommendations to the vestry at the end of September.
I know I am not alone is wanting to see folks. While the re-gathering committee meets, the vestry has approved a set of guidelines for groups from Holy Communion to gather safely outside. You can see all of those guidelines in the graphic below. We will be following the guidelines at our drive-in services on September 13 and October 11. We will also have some other gatherings outside like Theology on Tap on Wednesday September 9.
The vestry and other key leaders are also preparing for a campaign to speak with every member of Holy Communion. As we prepare for our fall Stewardship season, we will be initiating a series of conversations about your hopes for Holy Communion. Please take time to talk with us.
We have to move slowly in such a diverse community. Out of care for one another, we have to be intentional. Know of my prayers for each of you in these days. I ask you to pray for me, your vestry, and regathering committee folks as well.
