Sondra Ellis Memorial

With great sadness, the Ellis Family announces that Sondra Wagner Ellis died February 10, 2022. Sondra was a beloved member of all the communities of which she was a part, including The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, the St. Louis Herb Society, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Washington University, the Questers Society, and Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. Sondra leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Dorsey (Dan) Ellis; her daughter, Laura Ellis; her son and daughter-in-law, Geoff and Wendy Ellis; her grandchildren, Kenzie and Tate Ellis; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ellis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Legacy Fund of the St. Louis Herb Society, which Sondra was instrumental in founding, or the “Sondra Wagner Ellis Endowed Scholarship Fund” of Maryville College, where Sondra and Dan first met and became friends in 1956.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Communion on March 18 at 3pm. Space is limited. All Holy Communion protocols for in-person gatherings must be followed (up to date on vaccines, masks, space limits, no symptoms). Read about our in-person rules here.
The service will also be broadcast on our website, YouTube & Facebook pages. If you would like, you can sign the virtual memorial book, by clicking the button below.

Registration has closed for the service. You can participate online on our homepage, YouTube & Facebook pages.
