Marking Loss and Joy in Preparation for All Saints/All Souls
This tradition helps us to remember that we are never alone. We hold up our hopes and our griefs in the midst of all of those who have gone before us, and all of those who will come after. No grief, no joy, is lost to God. We are always surrounded by the communion of saints.
This year, in addition to laying our usual mementos on the altar, we are inviting you to mark the journey of the last 19 months. There are stations set up in the church inviting you to write the griefs and joys of the pandemic, all that we have not been able to mark together. We will allow these words to surround us the next weeks as we pray. We will be working with artists in the congregation on a cooperative installation. More details will be coming soon.
