Sept 12, 2021 4pm Park Service
Welcome! We are very happy to welcome you to our outdoor service.
A few “ground-rules” are important to help keep everyone safe.
Distancing: As much as we wish we could greet one another, out of love for our neighbor we have to stay distanced. Please maintain 6 or more feet from other households, unless you are “bubbling” together, or have had a conversation about vaccine status together outside of church.
Masks are not required if you have been vaccinated. For kids, the county recommends all unvaccinated children over age 2 be masked, but requires them for kids over 5.
Eucharist: Everyone is invite to receive. The ministers will come you with the host.
Singing: at this time we cannot sing safely as a group. You are welcome to quietly recite the words or hum along with the musician.
Donations: We welcome donations to support the work of Holy Communion, whether a payment on a pledge or simply an offering. A wooden box is available near the altar, if you would like to make a gift after the service.
The congregation is invited to say the words together in bold.

The Holy Gospel
Please stand. Mark 8:27-28
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark
Glory to you, Lord Christ.
Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.” Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
After the Lesson the Gospel Reader says:
The Gospel of our Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Christ.
Homily and Pray Ground Explanation

Prayers of the People
adapted from Season of Creation Ecumenical Prayer service
Whenever we join together, we should give thanks. So let us join our hearts and minds together and think of all creation and the Creator’s gifts.
Loving God. We give our thanks.
Let us think of our Mother, the Earth, upon whom we walk and who supports us and nurtures life in all its forms. We pray we can learn to walk on Earth with more respect.
Loving God. Hear our prayer.
Let us think of the reasons why we are gathered. For this place in which we gather, and for all of the animals and plants that call this place home.
Loving God. Hear our prayer.
Let us think of the whole human family whose livelihood and well-being depends on the well-being of the Earth. We lift up the men, women and children who are displaced from their homes. Especially remembering the victims of the California wildfires, Hurricane Ida, and the earthquake in Haiti
Loving God. Hear our prayer.
Let us turn our minds to the sacred waters of the world, the great oceans, lakes, rivers and streams, the life that lives in the waters and those that give itself to be our food.
Loving God. We give our thanks.
God, you have made our world and seen that it is good; grant to us, created to complete your work, the bright, delightful vision that makes us care for what we do.
God made the sun,
and God made the trees,
God made the mountains,
and God made me.
Thank you God,
for the sun and the trees,
for making the mountains,
and for making me.
Amen
The Peace
The Peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.
Young people are invited to begin the exchange of the passing of the peace within their own households.
During the Exchange of the Peace young people are invited to hang their prayers on the line with the creation story cards.
Please do not approach people outside your household. A wave, a peace sign, or a “smize” (a smile with your eyes) will do.

Eucharistic Prayer
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.
The presider offers our thanks to God for the grace and mercy made available to us in Christ.
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
The presider gives thanks to God for the reconciling work of Christ’s passion and resurrection and prays over the bread and wine.
We acclaim you, O Christ:
Dying, you destroyed our death.
Rising, you restored our life.
Christ Jesus, come in glory!
The presider concludes with prayer for the coming of God’s reign.
Through Christ and with Christ and in Christ, by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, we worship you our God and Creator in voices of unending praise. AMEN.
The Lord’s Prayer
Pray in the language you prefer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.
