November 7, 2021 4pm Park Service All Saints Service of Light

Welcome! We are very happy to welcome you to our outdoor service.

A few “ground-rules” are important to help keep everyone safe.

Distancing: As much as we wish we could greet one another, out of love for our neighbor we have to stay distanced. Please maintain 6 or more feet from other households, unless you are “bubbling” together, or have had a conversation about vaccine status together outside of church.

Masks are not required if you have been vaccinated. For kids, the county recommends all unvaccinated children over age 2 be masked.

Eucharist: Everyone is invite to receive. The ministers will come you with the host.

Donations: We welcome donations to support the work of Holy Communion, whether a payment on a pledge or simply an offering. A wooden box is available near the altar, if you would like to make a gift after the service.

The congregation is invited to say the words together in bold.

God made the sun,
and God made the trees,
God made the mountains,
and God made me.

Thank you God,
for the sun and the trees,
for making the mountains,
and for making me.

The Holy Gospel

Please stand.                                  John 11:32-44

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John

Glory to you, Lord Christ.

When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”

Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

After the Lesson the Gospel Reader says:

The Gospel of our Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Christ.

Prayers of the People

led by the kids

God, we pray for the church to become your beloved community on earth.
Lord you are our lamp; God you make our darkness bright.

God, we pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world.
Lord you are our lamp; God you make our darkness bright.

Give us grace to do your will in all that we do.
Lord you are our lamp; God you make our darkness bright.

Have compassion on those who suffer and grieve.
Lord you are our lamp; God you make our darkness bright.

Lord, your saints come from every nation and every tribe. Such is the beauty of your reign, where every race and people are honored and recognized as being made in your image.
Help us live lives of peace and reconciliation that pay homage to the diversity of your great cloud of witnesses. Amen.

The Peace

The Peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.

Young people are invited to begin the exchange of the passing of the peace within their own households.

During the Exchange of the Peace children are invited to collect their lantern as they offer their clothesline prayers. Others may also collect their lanterns.

Please do not approach people outside your household. A wave,  a peace sign, or a “smize” (a smile with your eyes) will do.

Eucharistic Prayer

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

Please remain standing.

On the night Jesus was betrayed, he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper, Jesus took the cup; gave thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

And so, gracious God, we bring you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Merciful God, gather us by this Holy Communion into one body in your Christ. Make us a living sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.
AMEN.

The Lord’s Prayer

Pray in the language you prefer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;

Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.
